days to remember

ready-made reminders

why

a date imprinted on a permanent surface has a strong symbolic value. looking at it, I can’t help thinking it was a day to remember to someone; even if it’s on the ground and people tread on it unaware every day, even if it’s covered in dirt and surrounded by cigarette butts.

every city is covered in layers of signs, different sets of coded messages that overlap everywhere. living in an urban setting, we grow up learning the codes, and usually end up accepting and using them as clues to direct our daily movements and behaviours.

but what if we picked up one of these sets of signs, one of the most obscure and disregarded, and make it more significant by liberating its symbolic charge and connecting it to our lives?

that’s what I want to do together with the readers of this site; I didn’t find a day of mine so far, and I don’t know if it’ll happen anytime soon. but I’ll be happy to know what your days are and listen to the stories behind them.
