this project began as a collection of photos, a couple of years ago, when I started taking pictures of dates I found scattered on the pavements in Paris.
I don’t know much about these dates; I suppose they are imprinted in the asphalt to mark the day of works made on the pavement – something that can be guessed by the position of the dates, which are often placed on the edge of new patches.
I’m also fascinated by the different shapes of numbers, ranging from neat and readable to improvised with the tools at hand – the second kind being often the most interesting.
the streets of the city are full of numbers; once you notice, you keep finding them everywhere. while my collection grew, I felt that it would be a waste not to find a new use and meaning to this wealth of signs. so here they are now, ready for you to find among them a day that has a meaning to you.
as you will see, it’s not yet a full calendar, nor will it ever be – that’s not the purpose. I’d like it to be a public space for everybody to keep their personal reminders, and a good way to re-use and share something that would be otherwise disregarded.
